It’s a little like our interior life-the outside doesn’t really show what we are hiding inside, all the blocks and wounds we carry around, weighing us down day by day. Someone hurts us and we shove that right down inside to join the myriad of hurts that are already stored in our energy field.  This process of stuffing our pains inside so we don’t have to look at or deal with them consumes a huge amount of energy that leaves us exhausted with little enthusiasm for all the joys life has to offer.

Making the choice to deal with this hidden material is a choice to open to the Light.  There are many systems out there and it can take time and experimentation to find the way that works best for each of us but it brings a great deal of happiness to let go of burdens we didn’t even realize we were carrying.

My particular love in the  Faerie Realm, a beautiful world where joy and beauty abound.  I trust my faerie allies to bring me the experiences I need to progress on my path of transformation.  I set my intention and ask for help, and then find myself drawn to particular ways of working that I know have been set in my path.  It has taken many years of work to build up this trust but the farther along I go the more I realize it is my willingness to let go that is the boundary for how fast I can change.

In my work I assist people in discovering  and then clearing the damage in their energy field that prevents them creating the reality they desire.  It is very interesting to watch because what clears is not necessarily the issues they thought were the most important, yet it is those very issues that were preventing them taking the next step.

We are living in a pivotal point in time when the energies to help us in this great work are there for the asking.  I invite you to look inside and ask yourself what would you like to change ?  And then quietly ask for the guidance to find the best way to go about it.

In many indigenous cultures there is a great awareness of what we owe our ancestors and the gifts and talents we have been given through them.  From a scientific viewpoint that information resides in our DNA, along with predispositions towards more challenging attributes like illness and less pleasant traits.

In the Faerie tradition the ancestral lineage is known as the River of Blood and it is accepted that it is our task to redeem the blood of our ancestors.  We do this by working on the challenges we find within us, facing the things we would rather not know about ourselves and bringing them into the Light.  Often these challenges have been inherited whether or not we are aware of it.    Many teachers talk about working with our shadows, the disowned parts of ourselves that need to be integrated so we can become whole.   It is less often mentioned that we do this not just for ourselves but for those of our ancestral line who are trapped in prisons of their own making, waiting for us to do the work that will set them free.   And by doing the work for ourselves we clear  the line for them and  for those in the future who will one day have our blood flowing through their veins.

There are those among our ancestral lineage of great strength and Light who have great gifts to bestow on us if we are open to receiving them.  They cannot help us directly however, unless we ask.

So how do we do this ?   There are many practices to contact our ancestors from all over the world, from meditation to ritual.  A wonderful and very rewarding practice is that of making contact through the graves of family or strangers.  Visit a cemetery and if you can visit a family grave.  If you are far from home as many of us in this world are,  find a grave that is neglected and overgrown.  Bring little offering gifts like flowers and incense  or whatever speaks to you and tell the spirits that you are there to make contact, to honor them.  What is important is that the gifts are from your heart.  The forgotten spirits in a neglected grave will be thrilled to be approached and remembered.  Ask them to convey your greetings to your relatives in the Otherworld.  If you really wish to make the contact deep tell them you will return but do not do this unless you really mean it.  Do not make promises you do not intend to keep.

Like any relationship it takes time to build but the rewards are great.  We live at a time when the veils between the worlds are becoming very thin and we have opportunities for Otherworldly contact that were the preserve of the few in times gone by.  We simply have to open ourselves to it, ask sincerely and it will come.  A regular practice such as this will attract the attention of those in our ancestral line who are ready to help us.  Who knows what treasures are waiting for you ?

Be warned though, the vibration of what is sent out is the vibration of what  returns.  If the intentions are greedy and selfish then that is what will come back.  Like attracts like in the spirit world just as it does in this one.  Those who are sincerely seeking a path of Light have absolutely nothing to fear however, for the Light is what will come to guide them.

Take the time to reflect on those whose blood flows in your veins, whether or not you know them. It is not important that you do, only that you are open to honoring and remembering them, and to receiving the  guidance and gifts they are willing to offer you.

To develop this intuitive sense a healthy dose of common sense is always required, and a strongly developed sense of right and wrong is absolutely necessary.   However, tuning into one’s heart is the greatest guide of all.  Check everything against the promptings of your heart and you will not go far astray.   The heart does not lie.   Make it a practice to listen to your heart.  Hold your hand on your heart and breathe into it.  Practice focusing awareness on your heart.  Our heart is the place of unity while our head is the place of duality.  Both are needed but when we can get out of our head and into the unity of our heart we are guided correctly.  This is the part of us that is connected to our higher self, the part of ourselves that is our teacher and guide, that can see all that we can’t see and that loves us unconditionally.

Like everything else it’s a learning process.  Making mistakes is part of the human experience and is the vehicle by which we learn.   Learning not to be crippled by our mistakes is crucial as this is a form of false ego.  We should welcome them for the teachers they truly are.  Mistakes only become a problem when we keep repeating them without learning.  This leads to being stuck but sometimes it’s part of the process we need to experience.

We are all on a journey to experience what we can in this life.   Knowing this can help us trust that the guidance we tune into right now is the perfect guidance for where we are at this moment on that path.

Learning to  listen to the prompting of our intuition is one of the most important ways we can keep a better balance and indeed, it is the one skill that each of us possess though few of us are  aware of it.  That nudge to step  away from the computer and to go outside in the sunshine, so subtle as to be almost unnoticeable, to take a few breaths and walk around for a few minutes so we can return to our tasks refreshed and renewed can be the difference between a raging headache or a pleasantly productive day.

Many of us are afraid to follow our inner promptings for fear of wasting time or being lead astray but the truth is the more we trust it the more we will actually get done.   Living in the flow of intuitive awareness becomes a life well lived with more accomplished than we ever thought possible.  It is also a life tinged with adventure as we are nudged towards pursuits we many never have considered which translates into a far more interesting life.  Try it and see where it leads you !

The search for balance is a theme in my life and I believe, the theme of our time.    As I was meditating the other evening in the Sacred Space of the Heart I was given an awareness of what true balance means .

When we think of balance what usually comes to mind is balance of mind, body and spirit  about which we hear a great deal.   Certainly it is very important to eat well to nourish our bodies so they can serve our mind and spirit, to exercise, to balance work and play, to attempt to be rounded in all aspects of our lives.   On a deeper level this is the time when the masculine and feminine energies in our world need to come into balance.   We had the time of the matriarchy in goddess cultures, the time of the patriarchy and male dominance, both of which have left us wounded and out of balance.  Now we need to bring those energies into line.  The image of the Brighid”s Cross above perfectly illustrates this,  male and female in equal measure intertwined at the center in balance,  a perfect emblem for our times.

Love is the preoccupation of the human race , not only do we desire it but we also need it.   Everyone longs for the prefect lover, the one who will bring us happiness and joy.   As we grow in wisdom and maturity we realize that no-one is perfect, least of all ourselves, and that forgiveness, compromise and cherishing our loved ones is part of the picture. Nevertheless, we secretly long for something more even if our better judgment tells us this is impossible.   Those of a religious or spiritual bent usually translate this impossible longing as longing for the Divine.

In the Sacred Space of the Heart, that space many spiritual traditions tell us belongs to the Divine alone, I saw that this longing for the prefect lover is really the longing for our own Soul.    The longing for the integration of it’s masculine and feminine energies making a perfect, balanced whole.   The treasure is truly within.   When we integrate this treasure we find our outer lives begin to reflect this inner reality.  We no longer look to others to fulfill our needs and are in a position to give our own love unconditionally.

Whenever we bring change to our lives we go through a period of adjustment as our outer reality comes into line with our inner reality, and this can seem like chaos.   But if we hold firm whatever needs to change will change and what we don’t need anymore will fall away.

If enough of us take on this work we can truly change the world.  Looked at from this angle the chaos in our world  can be seen in a positive light as it is the period of adjustment necessary to usher in the new, better world that we all long for.   Change is scary though, and no mater how unpleasant the present reality our mind desperately wants to hold on to what it knows.    None of us can afford to let our attention slip because we can still fall back into the old known reality when life get too difficult.   If we hold firm to the change our minds will accept it when it knows we are serious.

We are at choice every minute of every day.

We carry much from our ancestors.   On the Faerie Path our ancestral lineage is known as the River of Blood and it is one of our tasks to redeem the blood of our ancestors.   And how do we do that ?   We do it by working on ourselves and overcoming the many challenges that present in our being.  Some of them have been inherited for the express purpose of clearing the line.   When we do this we not only clear for ourselves and future generations but we also clear the line backwards for those who are trapped in nightmares of their own creation, unable to move forward and progress on their evolutionary path.  What greater work can there be for us ?

I reentered the Otherworld to visit the Place of Transition to see if my dear relative needed assistance  in crossing over.  I need not have worried.   She was like a newborn colt finding its legs,  all wobbly at first but then gaining  in strength .  In her case she was shedding her old, worn out shell and becoming strong and young.   She stepped onto the Sword Bridge and I was aware of many helping hands to ease her journey.   And I was assured that she would be fine, that she truly loved the Divine and that I need have no fears on her account.   It was a great gift and I was able to smile in farewell and turn away.

Whenever life gets tough I try to remember that I am engaged in this work not only for myself but for all of my line.   For the ones I know and the ones I will never know,  in the future as well as the past.   And in so doing bring a little more light into my own small corner of creation.

We all have choices and can choose the higher or the lower path.  Every minute of every day we choose, which is a wonderful concept because it means that at any time we can change our current choices.

Life and our karmic debts can muddy the waters,  but if we truly desire to align ourselves with our highest destiny the way will open for us.  Time and again I have seen this in my own life-when  help was needed it arrived in exactly the form that best suited the circumstances.   When I look back over the years with all its ups and downs what most strikes me is that what has come to pass is really what was most important to me.  Rarely in the form I would have liked or chosen but with hindsight I did get what I most craved.  We create our own reality.  These day I am learning to fine tune it so the reality I create has more of what I desire and less of what I do not.

Most people do not have any idea they have a hidden resource ready and willing to help them in their team of inner guides.  That team has the sole purpose of assisting us in creating the life we desire.  All they want is for us to listen to them so they can help us.  The hard part is learning to trust those inner promptings to make one particular choice over another, to know when it is our selfish desires and not our inner guides directing us.  But it can be done and all we have to do is ask for help and it will be given.

As you go about your day  I invite you to listen more deeply to your inner promptings.

Last night I sat in meditation, contemplating the things I wish to release and the new things I wish to welcome into my life.  We have to make space for new things-we cannot add more items to an overfull closet and the same holds true for our lives.  We are at a powerful moment  in time with a blue moon and a rare lunar eclipse  so the energies are there to support us in any changes we wish to welcome into our lives.

My own particular love is the Fae,  those wonderful beings of story and myth who inhabit the primal world, that place of beauty and joy where every good thing that has ever existed in our world is kept in safety forever.   I grew up hearing about them,  was blessed to live among a people where their reality was accepted by some,  and I wished to be with them the way other young girls wish to live in a castle and be princesses.   As a very young child all I wanted was to be a faerie and was quite convinced that while my days were spent in the world of my parents my nights were spent in the magic of Faerieland.  Contact with the world of consensus reality and the hard knocks of life soon took over and it took a long, circuitous journey and many hard lessons along the way to find my way home to them in adulthood, to realize that the Faerie path of transformation, possibly the oldest spiritual path of them all, is the one I was looking for all along.

Life is full of magic if we have the eyes to see.  I invite you to close your eyes, slow your breath, relax your body and invite the joy of faerie into your life.
